This spring semester, we have a variety of events planned.
These include: Technical Workshops, Professional Networking Events, Socials, and more!
See more information on our event schedule with the button below.
We started our very own Web Development Team! This is open to anyone at any experience level to come work with some awesome people and learn to design, build, and deploy a website. Our first project is to build a new website for our organization.
We want our members to strengthen their creativity by working on individual projects, participating in hackathons, and collaborating on ideas together.
With our technical workshops and new web development team, we create opportunities for our members to get hands-on experience with different coding languages and industry tools and processes.
With our Discord server and variety of events, we try to cultivate an environment of not only technical and professional individuals but also people who bring those skills to a team and learn to collaborate on cool projects together.
We offer different kinds of social events for our members to connect on a regular basis, as well have an awesome Discord server for members to chat about various topics, help each other on projects, and even host their own events!
Meet our 2021-2022 E-board! Our e-board members work hard all year to bring awesome opportunities and events to our members. Interested in joining this awesome group of women? Stay tuned for our annual elections in the spring and any announcements for positions that may open in the meantime as some of our members graduate!
Signing up on NinerEngage will add you to our member list! Being on our member list means you will receive a welcome letter along with our weekly newsletter to stay up-to-date with us. These newsletters can also include event recaps, with slides, links, and other important information.

As a member, you also have access to:
β¨ Our Weekly Newsletter
β¨ Our Event Calendar
β¨ Member-Only Events
β¨ Our Web Team
Want to be a part of the Web Team? No experience needed! Join our weekly check-ins to see what we are doing and if you want to get involved. Coming to watch each week is 100% welcome as well! Join us via Zoom.
These will alternate between workshops, professional events, and socials, typically 1 - 2 hours long. The day and times for these, as well as whether they are virtual, in-person, or hybrid may vary depending on the event. Check our Main Events calendar for the current month below!
Come drink coffee, chat, work out the bugs, logic, life troubles... really anything. These sessions are purely here for technical support and socializing, however you want to use it. Enjoy some time to hangout with other GWC members via Zoom or in WOOD 209!
When joining events virtually, make sure you are logged into zoom with your UNCC account if it's a GWC-specific event. Some events may note that they are open to the public, in which case a UNCC account is not required. However, most events are for GWC members or UNC Charlotte students. You can learn more about using your UNCC account with zoom here. For more on using zoom in general, see here.
When joining events in-person, make sure you have registered (if required for that particular event) and are following all COVID-19 protocols. Safety is a priority at our events, and this means most in-person events will have a limited number of spaces and require registration to attend. For events where this is the case, it will be noted in the announcement for the event on here, our weekly newsletter, and on social media. If it is a hybrid event, in-person attendance will require registration, while virtual attendance will not.
Events with an asterisk* will require registration
To see the latest updates to our events, add our GWC Members calendar to yours! You can do this
with the link in our Weekly Newsletter. Want to receive our newsletter? Check out the Members tab!

You can join and be a developer, archivist, analyst, or trainee. There is something for everyone!
It's as easy as showing up to our meetings or can be a fun challenge to follow along and contribute.
Any contributions are only as much time as you want to put in. So come be a part of an amazing team,
even if only to learn by observing! Learn more in our guide with the button below.
Please note: The guide is unavailable from Sundays at 8pm to Mondays at 5pm each week for updates.
Last year, we began learning to use VS Code, GitHub, and a Hugo template (so we donβt have to build from scratch). We also learned to use Figma to document our design plan! When developing something with a team, and something that will be passed on to future members to maintain, itβs important to have documentation about your design choices. For example, specific fonts, color palettes, etc. that you used to create our branding. We worked to develop our own guide and learned one of the most used design and prototyping tools in the industry!
This semester, we are officially starting the development process! Join us for our Web Team Kickoff on January 31st to learn more about how this will work and how you can get involved.
The deadline to officially join the team and help develop is February 14th at 5:00pm,
but you can come to watch anytime! To join the team, follow the TODO list for this week in the Web Team Guide (linked above).
Once you have completed those steps, you will be added to our team roster!
What happens next? All team members will be given access to the GitHub repo, Figma board, Google Drive folder,
and web team channel on Discord next week after our meeting.
